Slight farther north of typical tourist centres like Siam and Sukhumvit, Victory Monument is a popular hangout place for working-class Thais and those who can’t afford the high price tag of fine dining and high-street shopping in other areas. Besides budget shopping and dining, nightlife is considered a major highlight of Victory Monument. You will find everything from street-side drink stalls to the city’s most popular jazz bar and classy wine pub with live DJs on the decks.
Most of the happening places are located to the south of the monument, between Victory Point outdoor market and Soi Rang Nam. For most people, though, Victory Monument serves as one of the busiest transportation hubs in Bangkok, as nearly all public buses and vans to the city’s outskirts as well as nearby beach towns leave from this area.
