This is undoubtedly one of the most charming and scenic places Bangkok
has to offer. The Riverside encompasses a large area and is of historic
significance in documenting the evolution of trade, warehousing and
commercial activity. Today, it is an area for prime real estate development.
Many hotels have also established themselves here, especially near Bangkrak
and Thon Buri. (on the other side of the river)
What's fascinating is to observe the beehive of activity - from taxi
boats plying regular routes, to rice barges being towed to nearby warehouses.
In the northern area is Sanam Loung and Bang Lum Phu - the political
capital of Bangkok renown for its popular and historic landmarks. Moving
south, the middle area is Chinatown, Silom and Bangrak - the commercial
and business districts. Further south, are the areas Charoen Krung and
Klongtoey - the warehousing and transshipment centers.
